  • 1.  Protocol for In-Person Chapter Meetings

    Posted 01-07-2022 11:27

    The American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) strives to provide its members and guests the
    opportunity to participate in meetings in a safe environment. Accordingly, AAII has adopted this protocol for in-person chapter meetings.

    Stay home if they:

    • Have tested positive for COVID-19;
    • Are waiting for COVID-19 test results;
    • Are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms; or
    • Are unvaccinated and have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.
    • Adhere to applicable face mask requirements;
    • Observe applicable social distancing guidelines; and
    • Observe proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette.

    In an effort to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and its variants, and in addition to the above, we ask chapter leaders to:

    • Provide a refund or offer a credit if an attendee cancels for a COVID-19 or other health-related reason, or if a state or local authority issues a lockdown or otherwise prevents the meeting from occurring;
    • When possible, arrange for alternative ways for members to attend the meeting, for example, providing call-in or other remote options;
    • Maintain a list of attendees for potential contact tracing needs; and
    • Provide hand sanitizer and, if needed, masks to in-person attendees.

    Any questions regarding this protocol should be directed to chapters@aaii.com.

    This protocol was prepared based on guidance from the CDC. AAII cannot guarantee the effectiveness of this material to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among members and guests. Where state or local laws or guidance provide for additional restrictions, such laws apply. This protocol is effective on 07/01/21 and AAII reserves the right to add, modify, revoke or change this protocol, in whole or in part, at any time, and as additional information becomes available.

    On review of the in person meeting protocol it appears that point 4 is at odds with CDC recommendations. Even if vaccinated one should wear a mask after exposure to someone with Covid. It would be advisable to stay home as viral loads are the same as unvaccinated persons.

    "High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus," CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said in a statement.
