Following William Gregg's comprehensive Medicare presentation at our November Income and Cash Flow SIG Group meeting, we want to continue to share continuing developments in this complex federal health insurance program. With a new presidential administration taking charge, there will likely be more significant changes in the coming months.
A recent article from the WSJ attached here highlights that even if medicare enrollees missed the annual Open Enrollment Period from October 15th-December 7th, there is a separate Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1st-March 31st that allows enrollees to change to another Advantage Plan, with an embedded drug plan.
It is particularly important to compare plans since many have reduced their coverage, especially in the area of extra benefits. Enrollees also need to be aware of changes in-network doctors and prescription drug formularies.
