Taxes play a major role in how much of your retirement savings you actually get to spend. In this session, you'll learn how tax maps can help you make smarter decisions about Roth conversions and long-term capital gains harvesting, especially in light of new tax legislation enacted in July 2025. This will guide your understanding of the content in Chapter 10 of the Retirement Planning Guidebook.

We'll begin with a short, plain-English overview of how the federal income tax system works. From there, you'll see how changes in income can affect:

-Federal taxes on different types of income
-How much of your Social Security may be taxable
    -Medicare premium surcharges
-The important implications of how your preferential income sources stack on ordinary income
-The phase-out of key deductions, including state and local taxes, the new age-65-and-older deduction, and medical expenses

Using practical, easy-to-follow examples, you'll learn how increasing taxable income-through Roth conversions or gains harvesting-can sometimes make sense, and when it may create unintended consequences.

By the end of the webinar, you'll have a clearer framework for identifying tax-planning opportunities for your retirement.
