The New York City Chapter is seeking a super-volunteer (could be a volunteer-to-board position) to help us beef up our marketing efforts. We currently have over 5400 members in our Community and are aware that more than 10,000 AAII members live in the NYC area (although many are not signed up for our Community). We offer wonderful speakers at our monthly chapter meetings, and we would like to attract more attendance, greater participation, and wider publicity.
Since all our chapter activities are currently virtual (delivered via Zoom), it is not necessary for the volunteer to live in New York City, but this may come in handy as we attempt to resume in-person meetings. Among the tasks needing help:
- compile a concise and targeted press list to receive our meeting announcements
- collaborate with program chair to create visually compelling meeting announcements and other online communications
- conduct outreach to other local groups (e.g., Meetup) to attract more attendees
- manage and maintain a social media presence (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) for the NYC chapter
- help us locate and negotiate terms with a suitable venue for in-person meetings
- participate in periodic online beard meetings to coordinate your actions with those of other board members
Although we're flexible on qualifications, we're hoping for a good communicator with social media savvy, willing to learn the AAII proprietary systems we use, with some professional marketing and/or PR experience.
