There is a lot to be said for indexing as I have read Bogle,s book. But It s good to have some other stocks or funds and use screening tools like Vector Vest.

Your suggestion Hugh is spot on as that is what is advised in books. I myself use a very small part of retirement to do options.

Hello Kevin, I have 3 till I retire. There are good articles on here. I am working on making my investments have three parts; reits, bonds and equity stock that pay dividends.

I am still three to three and a half years till I hang my hat. My main goal is to have enough money to live comfortably when I retire in the Philippines. For me I need to have $50,000.I am doing this by maxing out my IRA every year and making the best investments possible.

I am within 3-4 years of retirement. I know I won t have a million but my goal is $50,000. I will move to the Philippines where the cost of living is two thirds less. I contribute now over 10% of my pay to my IRA.
